You handle the question. I’ll handle the photographs.

In the last six months, I’ve photographed more than 15 proposals across Charleston and the Lowcountry. I know how to stay out of sight, be in the right place, and be ready when it happens.

Beforehand, I can help with location, timing, light, and exactly where to be. The proposal can be followed by an engagement session, giving you a full set of photographs from the occasion.

How it works

ONE: CONTACT

Send me an idea of what you’re planning. It doesn’t need to be flushed out at this time. I’ll check availability and reach out with next steps.

TWO: PLANNING

I’ll help you work through the location, timing, light, and positioning so we know exactly where you and I need to be.

THREE: PROPOSAL

I’ll arrive early and stay out of sight. When the proposal happens, I’m there and ready to photograph it without interrupting it.

FOUR: PORTRAITS

Once you've had a moment to yourselves., we'll take a few post-proposal photographs. A full engagement session is also available.

Proposal Locations

Not sure where to propose? I’ve photographed locations all over the Lowcountry and know how much the right setting can shape the moment. Here are a few of my favorites, each with something different to offer depending on what feels most like you.

solitude & sunset

Folly Beach

Folly Beach is one of Charleston’s most recognizable stretches of coast, but with the right timing, it can feel surprisingly private. Early mornings offer quiet beaches, fewer people, and some of the best sunset light in the Lowcountry. With open water, wide skies, and plenty of room to find a spot away from the crowds, it’s a strong choice for a proposal that feels simple and unforced.

nature & serenity

Magnolia Gardens

Magnolia Gardens gives you a quieter, more natural setting without losing the sense of place that makes Charleston distinctive. The gardens offer huge live oaks, winding paths, water, bridges, and plenty of tucked-away spots for the proposal itself. It’s also one of the best options if you want to take engagement photographs afterward, with a lot of variety without having to leave the property.

character & variety

Downtown Charleston

Downtown Charleston gives you a lot of options within a small area. Historic streets, waterfront views, quiet alleys, gardens, and some of the city’s most recognizable architecture are all within walking distance. If one spot is crowded, it’s easy to pivot to another without disrupting the plan. It’s a good choice if you want Charleston itself to be part of the proposal, with plenty of room to find a setting that feels like your own.

grandeur & OAKs

Boone Hall Plantation

Boone Hall makes an impression before you even reach the house. The long avenue of live oaks creates one of the most recognizable settings in the Lowcountry, with plenty of other strong locations throughout the property for the proposal and photographs afterward. It’s a great choice if you want a setting with a little more scale and drama while still being surrounded by the landscape that makes Charleston distinctive.

FAQ's

Do you help choose the location?

Yes. If you only have a rough idea, I will help you narrow down exact locations based on lighting, privacy, and logistics.

How far in advance should I reach out?

The sooner the better, especially for weekend dates in the spring or fall. However, if your proposal is just a few weeks away, reach out — I often accommodate shorter timelines if the date is open.

What happens if the weather changes?

We always discuss a backup plan. In the event of heavy rain or severe weather, I am flexible with shifting timing or finding covered alternatives that still look beautiful.

Can we add an engagement session?

Absolutely. Most couples treat the proposal portraits as a brief celebration, then book a full engagement session in a different location or season to complement it.

When will I receive my photos?

A carefully curated digital gallery will be delivered within one month, making it easy to view, download, and share your photos.
