Mount Pleasant Wedding Photographer
East of the Cooper. Close to everything. An entirely different quality of light.
Mount Pleasant has grown into one of the most popular wedding destinations in the Charleston area — and for good reason. The venues here range from waterfront estates along the Wando to historic plantations, private manor houses, and refined outdoor settings that hold up beautifully in photographs.
I photograph weddings across Mount Pleasant and the East Cooper area with the same documentary, unhurried approach I bring to every wedding in the Lowcountry.
Why Mount Pleasant couples choose to celebrate here
The light east of the Cooper behaves differently than downtown Charleston — it is more open, less filtered, and especially generous in the early evening. Venues like Boone Hall Plantation, The Oaks Farm, and the waterfront properties along the harbor offer a combination of historical weight and natural beauty that photographs exceptionally well.
Couples who celebrate in Mount Pleasant often choose it because they want the Charleston region's aesthetic without the downtown density. The result is a wedding that feels spacious, unhurried, and genuinely Lowcountry.
What to expect from coverage
I spend time before the wedding understanding the venue, the layout, and the light so nothing is improvised on the day. That preparation means the day moves calmly, the timeline holds, and the portraits happen in good light — not as an afterthought.
Coverage runs from getting-ready through the reception. I document the day honestly — prioritizing real moments over manufactured ones — while still delivering technically refined, beautifully edited photographs that meet a premium standard.

From couples who have celebrated here
"We chose Mount Pleasant for the venue and Justin for the photography, and they worked together in a way we did not fully expect. He knew the property better than we did by the time the wedding day came."
— Lauren & Chris, East Cooper Wedding
"The Lowcountry light at our venue was something we had hoped for on paper. Justin's photographs made it real."
— Kate & Michael, Mount Pleasant Estate Wedding
A few common questions
Do you photograph at venues you haven't visited before?
Yes. When possible, I visit the venue in advance or request a walkthrough from the venue coordinator. When that is not practical, I arrive early on the wedding day to scout the space before coverage begins.
Is Mount Pleasant significantly different from downtown Charleston for wedding photography?
The venues tend to be more open and less urban, which changes how light moves through the space and how portraits feel. Both areas offer exceptional wedding photography opportunities — the choice usually comes down to the venue and the aesthetic the couple is after.
Do you work with Mount Pleasant wedding planners?
Yes. I work well with planners across the greater Charleston area and am happy to coordinate directly with your planner before and on the day.
What is your availability for Mount Pleasant weddings?
Spring and fall Saturdays in the Charleston area book 10–14 months in advance. Reach out with your date and I'll give you an honest answer on availability.
